Initialization and actualization of the user model in job offers search on the Web (in Slovak)

Michal Šimún, Anton Andrejko, Mária Bieliková

To achieve proper adaptation of the content, layout and navigation, it is important to capture appropriate data about a user in the user model and keep it up to date. In this paper we describe a proposal of how to initialize and maintain the user model while a web-based information system is used. During the registration a new instance of the user model is created upon information acquired from the user (e.g., filled forms). We used stereotype model with a statistical approach to initialize user model and we designed a set of stereotypes. We use observing of user's activity as a source of data to keep the user model up to date. We have information about every user as she was moving in information space. Therefore the model adapts to any individual user. In this paper we describe a software prototype that realizes designed solutions.
